Slay the Death Pile
Our very first issue. This is the archive copy, as it was sent in October 2026, so the dates and sign-ups in it have passed.
Welcome to the very first SOLD Now newsletter
Hey friend,
Welcome to the very first SOLD Now newsletter. I'm so glad you're here.
If we haven't met yet, I'm Marissa. I run Marissa's Home, a vintage kitchenware and décor business, and I'm the founder of SOLD Now. I built SOLD Now because I was running booths, five selling platforms and live shows off sticky notes and spreadsheets and several apps that didn't even talk to one another, and I knew there had to be a better way. Everything in this app came from a problem I had on a Tuesday night with a pile of unlisted Pyrex staring at me.
This newsletter is going to land in your inbox once a month. Every issue will have a theme tied to what's happening in the reselling world, what's selling, events worth your gas money, a blog post worth your coffee, a feature that'll save you time, and at least one thing that makes you laugh. Most of all, I want it to feature you: your wins, your hauls, your questions.
October's theme is close to my heart: slaying the death pile. Halloween has nothing on the bin of unlisted inventory in the corner of your garage. Let's fix that together this month, right before Thriftmas season hits.
Hit reply anytime. I read every one.
Marissa

Slay the Death Pile
Every reseller has one. The bins you swore you'd list "this weekend." The estate sale haul still in the trunk. The death pile is the scariest thing in most of our houses, and October is the perfect month to face it.
Here's why the timing matters: holiday shoppers start looking in November. Anything sitting in a bin on Black Friday can't sell on Black Friday. Get it listed now and it's working for you all season.
Death Pile to Sold Weekend Challenge · October 22 to 25
Four days, one pile, real progress. We kicked off live on Thursday, October 22 at 7:00 PM and worked through it together through Sunday, with goals of 10, 25 or 50 items.
This challenge has ended. To hear about the next one, join the waitlist on the Weekend Challenge page.

Want resellers to talk shop with between challenges? The SOLD Now Facebook group is an upbeat, positive community for sourcing, pricing, shipping, platforms, and the wins (and fails) only other resellers understand. Come on in.

Thriftmas Is Here
Nearly 6 in 10 shoppers said they'd consider a secondhand gift last holiday season, per the National Retail Federation. The secondhand holiday has a name now, Thriftmas, and if you sell vintage, antiques or collectibles, this is your season.
In this post we break down what Thriftmas is, which categories make the best secondhand gifts, and the October-to-December game plan I'm running in my own business.
One Item, Every Place You Sell
Here's the part of the death pile nobody talks about: when the same piece is on your booth shelf, on eBay and on Etsy, keeping track of it is a job of its own. That's how double-sold Pyrex happens.
In SOLD Now, each item lives in one inventory record, and you give it a listing at every place you sell: a booth, a store, your online store, or a connected eBay or Etsy shop. When it sells out, SOLD Now takes care of the rest. The booth listing comes off the shelf, eBay and Etsy listings are ended for you, and for Whatnot and Facebook, SOLD Now tells you which ones to take down.
Try it this week: pick five items from your pile, add them to inventory, and list each one everywhere you sell. See Listings in the SOLD Now User Guide
Give your listings a holiday makeover
Gift-focused titles like "vintage gift for mom" or "retro kitchen gift" help your items show up when shoppers search that way.
What was moving
- Fall and Halloween décor: sell it now. Interest drops hard after October 31, so price to move.
- Vintage Christmas: Shiny Brites, ceramic trees and blow molds are starting to move as collectors shop early.
- Vintage kitchenware: Pyrex, Fire-King and CorningWare are classic "just like Grandma's" gifts.
- Books, cookbooks and records: books and media topped NRF's list of secondhand gifts shoppers would consider.
- Glassware and barware sets: easy to bundle and easy to wrap ahead of holiday entertaining.
From my own shelves: fall patterns are moving. Two sets of Pyrex Autumn Harvest Cinderella casseroles sold at Marissa's Home in the last 30 days, along with a CorningWare Merry Mushroom casserole and a Fire-King Jadeite butter dish.
The One-Touch Rule
The death pile grows because items get touched three or four times before they're listed: unloaded, moved, stacked, moved again. Try this: when an item comes home, it goes straight to your photo spot, then into inventory with its cost and storage location. One touch, then it's done. Future you on December 18th will thank you.
Neil and the garage

We don't talk about the garage anymore.
See you in the pile,
Marissa
P.S. Know a reseller drowning in bins? Forward this to them. Misery loves company, but progress loves it more.
